Page Manager 2.3 Errors: Causes & Resolutions

Page Manager is not a perfect app. To that end, these are the errors that Page Manager 2.3 users have reported to me thus far. I have done my best to state their causes and list possible resolutions.     [ExceptionMessage]:[Invalid URI: The URI is empty.]

Cause: Page Manager didn’t get all the details from Facebook on login, hence the missing URI error when you tried to open page viewer.

Resolution: When connecting to Facebook from Page Manager, please make sure that you see the confirmation messages before navigating away, especially on a slow Internet connection. To fix that, in Page Manager, under pages home, please disconnect & then reconnect to Facebook.

    [ExceptionMessage]:[Unexpected character encountered while parsing value: . Path ”, line 0, position 0.]

Cause: Page Manager has come across some weird characters it wasn’t expecting.

Resolution: First, exit the app and try again. If not, in Page Manager, under pages home, please disconnect and then reconnect to Facebook.

    ExceptionMessage]:[Invalid cross-thread access.]

Cause: When you are updating status or uploading pictures, if you click the update/upload button multiple times, you may experience this error.

Resolution: When you click the update status or upload picture button, it may take a second or two before the process completes. Once it’s completed, you will get a confirmation message. Giving Page Manager enough time to complete the process will help you avoid these errors.

Cause: When connecting Page Manager to Facebook, the app did not get all the details from Facebook on login. This may have been caused by a slow Internet connection on the device or if the user navigated away from the page before the process could complete.

Resolution One: In Page Manager, under pages home, please disconnect and then reconnect to Facebook.

Resolution Two: If the previous steps didn’t resolve the issue, please follow the steps at the end of this page to de-authorize Page Manager from your Facebook profile and disconnect/reconnect to Facebook from the app.

Cause: Can occur when you are connecting Page Manager to Facebook.

Resolution: Please uninstall and reinstall the app following the process at the end of this page.

[ExceptionMessage]:[Navigation is not allowed when the task is not in the foreground.]

Cause: Can occur when you are trying to quickly navigate away from a page before Page Manager has fully loaded it.

Resolution: Please exit the app and try again.

    [ExceptionMessage]:[NullReferenceException]

Cause: Can be a random occurence within Page Manager. I have had a few users report this error affecting various sections in the app.

Resolution: Please uninstall and reinstall the app following the process at the end of this page.


  • [2.3.8]. Hashcode: [-236659561]
    [ExceptionMessage]:[Object reference not set to an instance of an object.]

Cause: An error that has only been reported once, affecting page viewer.

Resolution: Exiting the app and restarting it resolved the issue.


How to uninstall and reinstall Page Manager?

  1. Uninstall Page Manager from your Windows Phone.
  2. Reinstall Page Manager from www.windowsphone.com/s?appid=918c0ff6-b756-4e4e-9192-1bb4de86192c
    Click buy if you have already purchased the app. The Windows Phone Store will not charge you again for the app.
  3. Connect Page Manager to Facebook. Ensure that you give the app enough time to download all data before navigating away from the page.

How to de-authorize Page Manager from your Facebook and disconnect/reconnect to Facebook from the app?

  1. De-authorize Page Manager from Facebook (Link: https://www.facebook.com/appcenter/my)
  2. Come back to Page Manager on your Windows Phone. In the app, disconnect from Facebook.
  3. Exit the app and then go back into Page Manager, on the welcome page, select connect to Facebook and follow instructions.
