1 Samuel 16:7 – Man looks at the outside but God looks at the heart

Whatever great things you do, no matter how many times you do it, no matter how many people are helped by it, no matter how many people applaud you for it, won’t matter to God, if your heart isn’t right with Him.

Good people don’t exist, but people who do good during the course of their lifetime, are aplenty. Of course, it must be noted that these individuals also do bad, which is why they can’t be called good. Only those who do good alone and nothing bad, can call themselves good, plain and simple.

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t do good but if you do so and believe that you’re a good person and will go to heaven because of it, then you’re sadly mistaken.

God looks at the heart and if you’re not right with Him, to Him, your heart is made of stone, imperfect, selfish, sinful and in conflict with Him!

You can argue all you want about how this didn’t apply to you, how you are a good person and so on, but unless you can have an honest look at yourself and declare that you have never said a lie, become angry at another person and done nothing wrong, then in God’s eyes, you are not perfect and according to His standards, you are a sinner and your punishment for sinning against Him, is death (of the eternal kind, where you go to hell, not heaven).

How do you get right with God?

Nothing you do on your own, can get you right with Him.

You see, God knew that we couldn’t do it on our own, so He took care of it Himself.

In fact, John 3:16 is a perfect summary of His plan:

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. (NASB)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (KJV)

And that’s it! The Bible makes it clear that everyone who genuinely receives Christ, will be saved, that is, saved from the wrath of God and saved to do good works while they’re still on earth.

You may not like to hear this but not wanting to hear the truth doesn’t make the truth any less true and Jesus Christ is truth Himself!

Without Christ, no one is acceptable to God.

I pray you will come to know Christ and be saved, now and forevermore.

Good bless you.
